BRDA on stage together with Alejandro Aravena!
We were thrilled to be part of yesterday’s “Alejandro Aravena and the Architecture that Prioritizes the People and Places that Need it Most” conference, hosted at SARP and organized by Geberit Polska and Hubert Trammer. Aravena presented his vision of social housing, which is very close to our hearts and future goals at the Foundation. We also did a quick window detail exchange during the panel discussion and had an amazing time with the rest of the speakers.
Zofia Jaworowska and Petro Vladimirov presented a short lecture entitled “Material Reuse in Grassroots Reconstruction.” Here are some key takeaways:
Material reuse for crisis solutions: we explored how reclaimed materials can play a pivotal role in crisis situations, offering sustainable and cost-effective solutions where they are most needed.
Second life of windows: rather than ending up in a landfill, we discussed how a salvaged window can be a lifeline, protecting someone from the cold and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Introducing BUDO: we introduced our latest venture, BUDO – a store specializing in reclaimed construction materials sourced from end-of-series items, warehouses, and building demolitions. By giving these materials a second chance, we’re making a positive impact on our environment and local communities.
Supporting our cause: the proceeds from the sale of these reclaimed materials will directly support our ongoing charitable project, WINDOW, enabling us to continue making a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the conference (including our close friend at the Metalab Foundation, Anastasiya Ponomaryova) and shared in the vision of sustainable architecture that prioritizes people and our planet 🌏✨
